Frome Community Go Karts Derby

A community day

The first in our Design & Build projects

Super Roots CIC teamed up with Frome Town Council to offer a free Go-Kart derby for young people and families.

Held in the Weylands playing field above the River Frome, between Whatcombe Road and Welshmill Lane.

The event was aimed at children aged 8 years +. Teens aged 14+ joined the “Tools & Decor Crew” or joined a team.  The event was free to attend.

The day offered a chance to get creative with scrap materials, work in teams to build a Go-Kart, and race their creations through a hay-bale course.

Imagination and creativity were KEY

Super Roots supplied all axles, wheels, wood, and some flag fabric, and people brought along recycled or natural materials to add to their karts – imagination and creativity were KEY! There was no building before the day, adding to the energy of the scrap heap challenge!  It was all about being wacky, imaginative, and playful, with prizes for imaginative designs, comedy, creativity, and teamwork.

People didn’t need to build go-karts to join in the fun. We invited people to pack a picnic, choose their favourite team, and make banners to cheer them on. With free snacks and plenty of excitement, it was the perfect day out for the whole family, creating unforgettable memories!
